PROJECT 2: CONTEMPORARY SEA-SIDE BUILD
This lovely new, north-facing home has a lot of glass walls and large retractable sliding glass doors. We love sun pouring into our homes, but it’s great to be able to screen it out as well.
The owners of this beach-side home wanted window coverings to filter out the strong north-west sunshine, and to provide privacy from neighbouring properties. The architecture of this home is modern and uncluttered, so the discrete automated Weathermaster Sunscreen and Blockout roller blinds were perfect to work with the clean lines throughout the home.
For softness and cosiness, we recommended fabric Roman blinds for the bedrooms and television room. A floor-to-ceiling, softly pleated sheer curtain will add a beautiful, low-key elegance the main bedroom, while creating a soft filter from strong sunshine and give day-time privacy from the deck and garden areas.
WHAT IMPROVEMENTS WERE MADE?
We recommended Weathermaster 63mm Masterwood faux timber Venetian blinds for the kitchen and bathrooms. These create a timeless feel in any home, be it coastal, country or city.
A double track-system of Weathermaster roller blinds was installed in the main NorthWest-facing living room, using both sun screen and blockout blinds. All blinds are charcoal-coloured, making them almost seamless with the black joinery.
Automated light-filtering roller blinds used to cut down on strong sunlight along the glass-walls in the passage ways. This also provides a feeling of privacy and cosiness on winter nights.
The main bedroom has charcoal blockout roller blinds for night-time light control. To soften the feeling, and give privacy and filter out strong sunlight, we selected a linen-look polyester drape. This long, softly-pleated, ceiling-mounted softly drape adds a real sense of low-key luxe to the room.

"We recently engaged Tui to help us pull together some of the finishing touches for our newly built home in Sumner. Tui’s patience in taking the time to understand our lifestyle and what we’re trying to achieve in terms of liveability, look and feel has really paid off in helping us to choose window treatments that are not only functional but also perfectly suited to the style of our home.
We couldn’t be happier with our choices. Tui’s creative input, prompt communication and warm and engaging manner made what was potentially an overwhelming process manageable and fun. We’ve been so happy with this aspect of our interior that we’ve also sought Tui’s input into some of our other furnishing decisions such as dining room furniture and kitchen lighting.
Thank you so much, Tui, we just love your work!"
