PROJECT 1: TIME FOR A CHANGE

The owner of this hillside-home knew she would like to change the look of her living and dining area but really didn’t know what she wanted, or where to begin.

By talking through the feeling she wanted to achieve, likes and dislikes, and the ever-important budget, we came up with a plan.

The gorgeous new Balinese-style console was the starting point … it all flowed from there.

WHAT IMPROVEMENTS WERE MADE?

  1. Beautiful textured wallcovering on the back wall, using Aspiring Walls ‘Interior Affairs’ from Resene.

  2. Brightened the wall colours using Resene Triple Merino and Half SeaFog throughout the whole area.

  3. Large chaise-style sofa designed to fit the space by Montreux Furniture, using a beautiful herringbone fabric from Fibre Naturelle.  This gorgeous texture tied in well with the mottled surface of the wallcovering in the background.

  4. A new oval dining table was created to make the most of a small area.  The glass-top and black steel criss-crossed base was designed to be open and have a feeling of lightness, rather than being a solid look in a small area.

This is still a work in progress, with artwork and accessories to be added as the ‘right’ pieces are found.

CLIENT COMMENTS

"The process of creating a new look for our home seemed quite daunting until I was introduced to Tui Short (Living Spaces Design) by a friend. Her lovely disposition made the whole exercise very enjoyable.

After the initial consultation to discuss the look I was wanting to create, Tui found some beautiful statement pieces and had some wonderful ideas.  At all times she listened to and worked with me, and we now have a living space that is far beyond what I could have created on my own.
Thank you Tui."
